The oboe is a double reed musical instrument of the woodwind family. It is pitch in "C"and has a clear and penetrating sound. The oboe looks like a clarinet but has no mouthpiece. The sound is made by using a double reed. Here are a few oboe playing tips.

.Before playing. always soak your reed in water for at least a minute. If you don't have water, you can try soaking it in your mouth.

.Always assemble the oboe before putting the reed in the instrument. The oboe has and Upper Joint, a Lower Joint and a Bell.

.Always blow in the reed to get the water or liquid out of it before putting it in the instrument.

.When putting the oboe away after practice, always put the reed in the reed case first.

.Get into position to play. You should always use good posture and play with a good sound produce by using a comfortable reed.

.Start practicing slow so you can think and concentrate on the music you are playing with accuracy.

.If at first you don't get it, slow it down further and repeat the passage until you get it.

.Set up a schedule that will allocate a certain amount of time to practice long tones, scales, warm-up time, technique and your music.

Set aside 30 to 60 minutes each day to practice these tips and others. You will be amazed on how you will sound and your technique will improve . There will be more oboe playing tips coming soon.
